Excitement, Anticipation Mark The Lodge at Riverstone's Groundbreaking

June 18, 2016

Madera, CA - It was an enjoyable late afternoon at Riverstone as 200 people took part in the June 2nd groundbreaking event for The Lodge at Riverstone, the master-planned community’s new resort-style clubhouse.

Joining The Lodge at Riverstone groundbreaking event are (left to right) Robert McCaffrey, McCaffrey Homes; Timothy Jones, Riverstone Development, LLC; Norm Allinder (in the back), Chief of Development Services, Madera County; Tom Wheeler, Madera County Supervisor, District 5; Brett Frazier, Madera County Supervisor, District 1.
Future site of The Lodge at Riverstone, the first of many resort-style clubhouses coming to the 2,000-acre master-planned community in southeast Madera County.

Speaking at the event were Tim Jones from Riverstone and Brett Frazier, District 1 Supervisor from Madera County, who both addressed a crowd of friends and families, city officials from Fresno, key members of the Central Valley’s development community, as well as all five members of Madera County’s Board of Supervisors.

“It was a wonderful event with lots of smiling faces,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “I was struck by the overwhelmingly positive response not only to the quality and unique amenities of The Lodge, but also to the natural beauty of our land with its rolling topography as well as our brand-new roads and other infrastructure that are quickly taking shape.”

Added Madera County’s Brett Frazier, “From what I’ve seen so far, I’m extremely impressed with Riverstone’s thoughtful planning, high quality of construction, close attention to detail, and willingness to adhere to County regulations and requirements. I believe Riverstone is well on its way to becoming one of the finest residential communities in the entire Central Valley.”

Also in attendance for The Lodge groundbreaking was Rodger Jensen, the successful farmer who—along with business partner Hans Sumpf—operated S&J Ranch on Riverstone’s lands more than six decades ago. The enterprising duo planted wheat and barley at first, and eventually cultivated figs followed by oranges, pistachios and olives.

“It’s certainly rewarding to see a long-term vision to develop Riverstone’s lands into a nice, balanced community,” said Jensen. “And by all accounts, that seems to be happening.”

The Lodge is being constructed in the heart of the Lodge District, Riverstone’s inaugural residential neighborhood offering the community’s first collection of new homes. Model homes are currently under construction and anticipated to open late 2016. Interested homebuyers are encouraged to add their name to the Interest List at www.RiverstoneCA.com.

As the first of multiple community clubhouses that will be built at Riverstone, The Lodge is anticipated to be a resort-style venue in a class by itself. Designed by William Hezmalhalch Architects, Riverstone’s land-planning and architectural firm, the contemporary, agrarian-influenced structure is expected to offer a state-of-the-art fitness center, flexible spaces for gatherings and events, and an outdoor terrace with a sparkling pool, spa, cabanas and a refreshments bar.

The Lodge also includes a Gear Barn, serving as a basecamp for outdoor pursuits. Its rental program including a variety of gear will be available to homeowners for on- and off-site adventures—everything from kayaking, camping and mountain biking to fishing, hiking and Sierra Nevada snow skiing.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods with 200 acres of public and private parks and open space reserves, an extensive trail network, on-site schools, and a nearby stretch of the San Joaquin River and adjacent lake.
