Riverstone Helps Give Liberty High Students a Grad Night to Remember

July 16, 2016

Madera, CA - For the developers who are building the upcoming Madera County master-planned community of Riverstone, few things are more important than a quality education.

Liberty High School’s 2016 graduates, some of whom are pictured here, enjoyed a fun and memorable Sober Grad Night, thanks in part to a donation from the developers of Riverstone, the new master-planned community coming to southeast Madera County.
As a result of Riverstone’s recent donation to help fund the construction of Sierra View Elementary’s new playground, the school has named the playground after Riverstone Farms, the development’s proposed community farm.

So when it came time this past June for the graduating seniors of Liberty High School to proudly receive their diplomas, Riverstone helped to ensure that the celebration afterwards would be a safe one. With a generous donation from Riverstone to LHS’ Class of 2016 Sober Grad Night, attending students were able to enjoy the fun of an Elvis impersonator and get the chance to win free prizes during an exciting giveaway held the following morning.

“We’re glad to have played a part in providing a safe and sober night of celebration for the 2016 graduates at Liberty High,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “Grad nights such as this provide a safe environment for fun, while showing the students what it means to be responsible. I think that’s a pretty great first step for the graduates as they take their next exciting steps into the future.”

Donations from Riverstone have also helped to enhance other schools throughout the district. Riverstone recently made a significant donation to Sierra View Elementary for construction of the school’s new playground, which has been named after Riverstone Farms, a proposed community farm adjacent to Riverstone.

Riverstone’s anticipated on-site schools—part of the award-winning Golden Valley Unified School District—are planned to combine expert instruction and innovative technology to equip students for bright futures. With nine schools serving nearly 2,000 students, Golden Valley Unified has had its share of success and accolades. The district’s Liberty High School, for instance, boasts a graduation rate of 96.18%, which is the highest graduation rate in the region. Golden Valley Unified also maintains a better-than-average student-teacher ratio of 24:1, and was named a Silver Award recipient for Best High Schools from U.S. News & World Report.

Also a California Distinguished School for 2009, Liberty High School offers nine Advanced Placement classes, and 85% of its students are involved in extra or co-curricular activities. With the one-to-one mobile device program currently available for the school’s 9th- 12th graders, students utilize cutting-edge 10.1 Samsung Note Tablets and Chromebooks both in the classroom and at home—giving teachers the ability to make learning more immersive and participatory.

A strong athletics program is also synonymous with Liberty High School, with league, division and valley championships in various sports.

Other district standouts include Webster Elementary and Sierra View Elementary, two schools that have both garnered California Distinguished School honors.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods with 200 acres of public and private parks and open space reserves, an extensive trail network, on-site schools, and a nearby stretch of the San Joaquin River and adjacent lake.

Riverstone’s first phase of homes is anticipated to be ready for occupancy late this year. For more information about Riverstone and its first collections of homes, homebuyers are encouraged to visit the community’s website at www.RiverstoneCA.com and add their name to the Interest List.
