Riverstone Community Committed to Academic Excellence

August 21, 2016

Madera, CA - Families that make the move to the new master-planned community of Riverstone in southeast Madera County will enjoy a one-of-a-kind notion of home that celebrates the very best of Central Valley living. A quality education for residents’ children is anticipated to be a major part of the offering.

A California Distinguished School for 2009, Ranchos Middle School is known for academic and sports excellence. The school’s 8th graders won first place overall two years in a row in the Academic Pentathlon, and last year the girls’ soccer team had another undefeated season and WSAL championship.
Home of the Mustangs, Madera County’s Ranchos Middle School is an award-winning school committed to building a strong foundation for the next generation of leaders.

“The on-site schools we have planned for the future at Riverstone will belong to the Golden Valley Unified School District,” said Riverstone’s Tim Jones. “Golden Valley is an award-winning school district known for academic and sports excellence as well as technological innovation. It’s a dedication to developing the best, brightest and most well-rounded students—and we intend to carry on that tradition.”

With nine schools serving nearly 2,000 students, Golden Valley Unified has had its share of success and accolades. The district’s Liberty High School, for instance, boasts a graduation rate of 96.18%, which is the highest graduation rate in the region. Golden Valley Unified also maintains a better-than-average student-teacher ratio of 24:1, and was named a Silver Award recipient for Best High Schools from U.S. News & World Report.

Also a California Distinguished School for 2009, Liberty High School offers nine Advanced Placement classes, and 85% of its students are involved in extra or co-curricular activities. With the one-to-one mobile device program currently available for the school’s 9th- 12th graders, students utilize cutting-edge 10.1 Samsung Note Tablets and Chromebooks both in the classroom and at home—giving teachers the ability to make learning more immersive and participatory.

A strong athletics program is also synonymous with Liberty High School, with league, division and valley championships in various sports. Other district standouts include Webster Elementary and Sierra View Elementary, two schools that have both garnered California Distinguished School honors.

The District’s Ranchos Middle School is an exemplary school committed to motivating all students to become academic achievers. The school has also garnered the California Distinguished School accolade, and the Math and English proficiency of its students rank above the state average.

Even though Riverstone’s on-site schools represent a promise for the future, the developers’ commitment to education is making a present-day impact in the local community.

Earlier this year, Riverstone made a substantial donation to Sierra View Elementary for construction of the school’s new playground, which is named after Riverstone Farms, a proposed community farm at the development. Riverstone Farms is anticipated to yield an abundance of great-tasting fruits and vegetables available to homeowners as well as the general public.

Riverstone also made a generous donation this past June to Liberty High School, which helped to provide a safe, sober and entertaining Grad Night for graduating seniors of the Class of 2016.

Situated in the heart of the region’s path of growth, Riverstone—when complete—will total approximately 6,578 single-family, attached and multi-family homes, as well as commercial and mixed-use space including office, service and retail. Amenities at Riverstone are anticipated to include walkable neighborhoods with 200 acres of public and private parks and open space reserves, an extensive trail network, on-site schools, and a nearby stretch of the San Joaquin River and adjacent lake.

Riverstone’s inaugural collection of new homes from local, award-winning homebuilder, McCaffrey Homes, is currently under construction. The model homes from McCaffrey are anticipated to open late 2016. Lennar, the second homebuilder at Riverstone, will begin onsite construction soon.
